In a petitiion dated 7th November 1995, the Complainant, Mr. Ama, complained against the termination of his appointment with the Respondent on 19th September 1986. He stated that he had been terminated on the grounds of gross misconduct for failing in his duty as Accounts Manager to ensure against wilful dissipation of funds. He stated that he had taken an 1.O.U in the sum of ¢431,600.00. He claimed that the Respondent's actions had been "politically motivated by the tempo of the revolution during the period". He explained that due to the difficulties in life many staff took I.O.U at survice. He said also that out of a long list of staff, only 7 were disciplined for taking 1.O.Us.The Respondent commented that the taking of 1.0.Us was in total violation of the law establishing the Social Security scheme. It was also contrary to accounting principles and procedures. Furthermore, the Respondent stated that the Complainant and the Financial Controller indulged in this unauthorised act....
