Introduction In a complaint dated 10th May 2001 the Complainant asked this Commission to investigate the ill treatment meted out to pupils by the Respondent. The Complainant's Case The Complainant stated that pupils who owed school fees were subjected to inhuman treatment. He alleged that such pupils were not allowed into their classrooms but had to sit outside the headmaster's office in the scorching sun. He asserted that in view of the Government's FCUBE Programme, education should be free and compulsory. He also claimed misuse of PTA funds and falling standards in the school. The Respondent's Case: The Respondent denied that the children were asked to sit on the sun. The children, the head teacher asserted, spent the day in his office. He also denied misuse of school funds saying that some of the money was used for a send-off party for 7 teachers.
