This is a case where Mr. S. Awuku-Hevi, the Complainant was dismissed as a result of an allegation that he has extorted monies from a Contractor who was awarded a contract by the Respondents. On or about 16th March, 1995, the Complainant complained to the Commission seeking for: i. re-instament ii. payment of all lost financial benefits including his monthly salaries; iii. compensation for loss of seniority The facts are that the Complainant was a staff (ie a Senior Superintendent) of Accra District Office of the Ghana Education Service (G.E.S.). The Respondents decided to award a contract to one Yaw Alanyo doing business under the name and style of Alanco Wood Works to manufacture 1,050 All-Purpose benches for junior Secondary Schools in the District. The contractor was given part payment of C5,512,000 (Five Million, five hundred and twelve thousand cedis) out of a total contract sum of C11,025,000 (Eleven million and twenty five thousand cedis).
