INTRODUCTION The Commission received a complaint on 2nd January 2001 asking it to make an order for the registration of the Complainant's son for the June 2001 S.S.CE examination. COMPLAINANT'S CASE The Complainant made this complaint on behalf of her 18 year old son who was due to take his SSCE examinations in June. She stated however that money meant to be used for his registration had been used to defray outstanding school fees. She stated that although she promised to settle the school fees once her son had been registered for his exams, the headmistress refused to register him. She stated further that she learnt that others who had been in arrears of school fees had been registered. She therefore alleged that her son was being discriminated against. RESPONDENT'S CASE The Respondent stated that the schools practice was that parents should settle their ward's fees before registration could take place.
