CHARLES AYIVOR AND INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE

On 23rd September 1998, the Commission received a petition dated 21st September 1998 from Mr. Charles Ayivor, complaining about the unfair treatment meted out to him by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), his employers particularly concerning his promotion to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Taxes. The Respondent explained that the Complainant, as an Officer, was given every opportunity available to any officer of his grade to enhance his status, but the Complainant did not meet the expected standard and did not co-operate as well. The Complainant indicated to the Case Officer on 30th June, 1999, that he was on retirement from the I.R.S and as such was no longer interested in pursuing the matter. He therefore urged the Commission to abandon the case. The Commission hereby ceases investigations into the matter forthwith in accordance with Section 13 (1) (b) of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice Act 1993 (Act 456) which states as follows: 13 (1) "Where in ...
