INTRODUCTION The Complainants petitioned this Commission against the treatment meted out to them by the Respondent. THE COMPLAINANTS' CASE The Complainants stated that they were employed by the Respondent as security guards. They claimed that the Respondent promised to pay their hospital bills and their social security contributions to SSNIT. However, on the termination of their appointment, they claimed that no contribution had been made on their behalf to SSNIT. The Respondent in response stated that in the 17 months that the Complainants were in their employ as security guards, 53 bedsheets, 64 pillow cases, 135 handtowels and a whole host of items got missing. Furthermore, the Respondent stated that when the Complainants were assigned to a duty post, they refused to go. This resulted in the termination of their appointment. FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS On 23rd November 1998, these comments were transmitted to the Complainants for their reaction. Nothing has been heard from them ...
