SAMUEL vs. STATE HOUSING CO
In March 1995, the plaintiff approached the defendant, a statutory corporation responsible for building and selling estate houses, to purchase house No E 161 at Airport Estates/Buokrom Estates, Kumasi. Directed by the receptionist to the estate manager, Christiana Boateng, the plaintiff inspected and agreed to purchase the house, paying ¢11.5 million in full. No receipt was issued due to the area director's absence. The plaintiff was issued an introductory letter to utility companies and the defendant's subcontractor completed the house. The plaintiff and others occupied the house from 1995 to 1997. Later, the defendant claimed the plaintiff was not a lawful purchaser and demanded an additional ¢32 million. Upon refusal, the plaintiff was forcibly ejected from the house in March 1997.
