Introduction In a complaint dated 26th April, 2001, the Complainant prayed this Commission to prevail upon the Respondent to pay the medical bills of her niece who was knocked down by a car driven by the Respondent and had been hospitalized at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. The Complainant's Case The Complainant stated that her eleven-year-old niece was knocked down by a car being driven by the Respondent whereupon, the child was admitted at the Plastic Surgery and Reconstruction Unit of the Korle BU Teaching Hospital. The total cost of her treatment amounted to ¢1,218,700.00 out of which the Respondent paid a deposit of ¢300,000.00 leaving a balance of ¢918,000.00. The Complainant stated further that even though her daughter was declared fit, the hospital authorities had refused to discharge her till her medical bills had been fully settled.
