INTRODUCTION In a complaint received on 23rd February 2004, the Complainant alleged that the Respondent caused a publication of him and his organization in the "Daily Graphic's" edition of 9th February 2004 that sought to tarnish the name of his company and unjustifiably bring his name to public ridicule. The Complainant appealed to the Commission to, among others, claim compensation and cause the Respondent to explain the circumstances that led to the said publication. OBSERVATION The Commission declines to investigate this matter further as it observes that the matter before it is one of character defamation of which the Commission has no jurisdiction. The Complainant is however advised to seek redress at the law courts, which is the appropriate forum under the circumstances. DECISION Further investigations into this case cease in accordance with Section 13(1) (a) of Act 456 which states that: "Where in the course of the investigation of any complaint it appears to the Comm...
