INTRODUCTION The Complainant, on 20th November 2001, reported to the Commission, general abuse of the human rights of the members of the Respondent church. He first wrote to the Human Rights Organization of Ghana (HROOG), which referred the case to the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs (MWCA) He tasked the Commission to institute investigation into his report and bring the culprits to book. COMPLAINANT'S CASE In his letter dated 2nd October 2001, the Complainant alleged that he was a concerned citizen living in Ashaiman. He stated that the Respondent church was violating the rights of its members especially those suspected of being witches. He averred that women were being beaten up, whipped with canes and their hairs being pulled to the ground. Mr. Ahuble therefore drew the attention of the HROOG, which referred the matter to the MWCA and eventually to the Commission with the view to conduct on-the-spot investigations and cause the perpetrators to be dealt with in confor...
