The complainants, parents of an alleged rape victim, accused the Chief State Attorney and the District Director of Education in the Brong Ahafo Region of manipulating the trial due to tribal affiliations with the accused. They sought intervention from various authorities including CHRAJ to investigate the conduct of the respondents.
read moreThe complainants are parents of an alleged victim of rape. They claim that the Respondents who are the Chief State Attorney and District Director of Education respectively in the Brong Ahafo Region are manipulating the trial of the accused person because of their tribal links with the accused person in the rape trial. They therefore sought several authorities including this Commission to investigate the conduct of the Respondents. In the course of investigation, it came to light that the matter is being dealt with by the Ministry of Justice. The matter is also one that is before a court of law. By reason of the above the Commission decided that this matter ought not to be investigated any further. Pursuant to Section 13 (1) (b) of the CHRAJ Act. 13 (1) “Where in the course of the investigation of any complaint it appears to the Commission - (b) That having regard to all the circumstances of the case, any further investigation is unnecessary, it may refuse to investigate the matte.....
