CHRISTOPHER LARWEH AND CUSTOMS, EXCISE & PREVENTIVE SERVICE (CEPS)
In his petition dated May 10, 2010, Christopher Laweh, a Principal Collector of CEPS sought the Commission's assistance to change the effective date of his promotion from September 1, 2006 to January 1, 2006. He was of the view that the administration of CEPS acted deliberately to let some of his junior colleagues get their promotion earlier than him. The Commission commenced formal hearing into the matter on September 16, 2010. On October 11, 2010 the 3-Member panel hearing the matter received a letter from CEPS stating that the matter had been settled, which the Complainant confirmed to the panel on Thursday, October 14, 2010. In the circumstances, the Commission ceases further action in this matter in accordance with Section 13(1)(b) of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice Act 1993 (Act 456) which provides that: "Where in the course of the investigation of any complaint if appears to the Commission - (b) that having regard to all circumstances of the case, ...
