WEST AFRICAN EXAMINATIONS COUNCIL VS. GHANA PALAVER

MR. ALEXANDER BANNERMAN, DEPUTY EXECUTIVE SECRETARY OF NMC The West African Examinations Council in a petition to the NMC complained about a series of publications in the Ghana Palaver in its, 14th, is", zs", and zs" September, 2009 editions that sought to impugn the reputation of WAEC. Following a meeting between the two parties at the summons of the Commission, both WAEC and the then Editor of the Ghana Palaver, Mr. Joojo Bruce Quansah agreed to amicably settle the matter, which they have since done 'and duly informed the Commission. We commend the two parties for appreciating the need for goodwill to exist through the sharing of information between public institutions and the media when necessary and the additional obligation of journalists to cross-check and verify their information with relevant authorities before going to press.
