FAIR WAGES AND SALARIES COMMISSION (FWSC) (REPRESENTING GOVERNMENT OF GHANA) vs. GHANA MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (GMA)

The dispute arose from a prior arbitration award dated 4 November 2011 concerning the grading structure for doctors, calculation of market premium, and grading of two administrative positions. The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) alleged that the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) unilaterally suspended implementation of the market premium and recovered payments, resulting in reduced pension contributions, contrary to the arbitration award. The FWSC contended that a Technical Committee was handling migration issues related to the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS).
