KWAKU AYENSU OPARE – ADDO vs. ATTORNEY-GENERAL AND OTHER
The plaintiff was a Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Ghana Police Service and was one time the Ashanti Regional Police Commander. He alleged that he was retired from the Police Service on 17th July, 2008, and thereafter, the Office of the President of the Republic of Ghana engaged him on a two year contract with effect from the day of retirement already referred to, till the end of July 2010. He asserted that the second defendant breached this agreement when on 13th August, 2009 it terminated the two year contract by a letter addressed to him. The said letter is in evidence as exhibit ‘L’. According to him, he wrote to the second defendant per his letter of 14th August, 2009 in which he drew its attention to the existence of the contract he entered into in terms of exhibit ‘L,’ which was to expire at the end of July 2010 and prayed for the error to be corrected.
