A: Section 8 of the Motor Vehicles (Third Party Insurance) Act 1958, (No. 42 of 1958) reads SECTION 8 - Duty of insurers to satisfy judgments (1) Where after a certificate of insurance is delivered under subsection (6) of section 4 to the person by whom a policy has been effected, judgment in respect of the liability as is required to be covered by a policy issued under paragraph (b) of subsection (1) of section 4, which is a liability covered by the terms of the policy, is obtained against a person insured by the policy then, although the insurer may be entitled to avoid or cancel or may have avoided or cancelled the policy, the insurer shall subject to this section, pay to the persons entitled to the benefit of the judgment of the sum of money payable in respect of the liability including the sum payable in respect of costs and the sums payable by virtue of an enactment in respect of interest on that sum or judgment (emphasis mine).
