The Plaintiff, an IT professional employed since August 1982 by Ghana Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (later Vodafone Ghana Limited), was terminated on medical grounds on January 10, 2007, effective February 28, 2007. The Plaintiff challenged the termination as wrongful and unlawful, seeking reinstatement and back pay. He was denied invalidity benefits by SSNIT after a medical board found him fit for employment. The Plaintiff petitioned the National Labour Commission (NLC), which ordered reinstatement and back pay, but the Defendant successfully challenged this order in court. The Plaintiff then instituted this suit alleging wrongful termination and seeking damages and reinstatement.
read moreIntroduction: [1] The Plaintiff, Michael Kwaku Okyere Bampo, is an Information Technology Professional who was an employee of the Former Ghana Posts and Telecommunications Corporation, which later became known as Ghana Telecom Company Limited. He was employed in August 1982, and was terminated by the Defendant Company, the successor to Ghana Telecom on January 10, 2007. [2] In this action the Plaintiff is asking for a declaration that the termination of his employment with the Defendant Company was wrongful and unlawful and therefore demands that he be reinstated.
