JONATHAN AYIVOR AND ABUBAKAR IBRAHIM vs. THE REPUBLIC
JUDGMENT The Accused person (A1), Jonathan Ayivor, was the driver in charge of Toyota Camry bearing registration number GN 2075-17 whereas Appellant, Abubakar Ibrahim being a trader, was a passenger in A1’s vehicle. On 20th July, 2017 at about 10:00am, A1 was intercepted and arrested by the police at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle for using the above stated registration number, which was suspected to be forged. After a search was conducted at the Tema DVLA, it was discovered per their records that the said registration number was issued on 16th May, 2017 to LANDINI TRACTOR, belonging to Sam Valleys Farms Limited and not the Toyota Camry. During interrogation, A1 mentioned the Appellant as the source and that he took an amount of GHȼ1,300.00 for the purported vehicle registration.
