PRINCE HORACE ALLOTEY vs. THE REPUBLIC

JUDGMENT This is an appeal against the conviction and sentence of the Appellant, Prince Horace Allotey on 21st April 2016 by the Circuit Court, Accra, presided over by Her Honour Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku. According to the facts as presented, the Appellant advertised through rental agents that he was letting out the eight rooms in the house which attracted the twenty-seven Complainants/Victims in the case. Between June and September 2011, the Victims approached the Appellant and with assistance of two accomplices, he collected an amount of GHȼ24,833.00 from the complainants under the pretext of renovating the rooms and letting it out to them. The Victims reported the case to the police when the Appellant and his accomplices went into hiding. One of the Victims spotted the Appellant at Makola, Accra on 18th July, 2012 and caused his arrest.
