RULING – SET ASIDE ENTRY OF JUDGMENT i. Background: [1] The subject matter of this litigation relates to football which is regarded as the passion (if not unofficial religion) of the nation. It is the work done by the Plaintiff/Judgment Creditor/Respondent for the Republic of Ghana at the four stadia in Ghana (Accra, Essipong, Kumasi and Tamale) for AFCON 2008 which was won by the Pharaohs of Egypt and the non-payment of the debt which is the centerpiece of the lawsuit. I note that since the debt became due the football landscape in Africa has changed to the extent that Zambia’s national team, the Chipolopolo which had hitherto not won the continental showpiece became African Champions in 2012.
