THE REPUBLIC vs. REX CUDZO TSATSAKU AND EMMANUEL AMEKUDZI
On 9 March 2015 at Kpetoe, the complainant Jabez Foli and his business assistant Bennet Adziri were violently robbed by a group armed with machetes. The accused Rex Cudzo Tsatsaku was identified by the complainant as one of the robbers. Emmanuel Amekudzi was alleged to have abetted the crime by advising Tsatsaku to flee and assisting him to escape. Stolen items were recovered from Tsatsaku upon arrest. Both accused denied involvement.
read moreA. INTRODUCTION 1. The event for which we are all assembled today in this courtroom for this judgment speech by me, occurred at Kpetoe. Kpetoe or fully, Agortime-Kpetoe, is a relatively small town, and is the political capital of the Adaklu-Anyigbe District in the Volta Region. The town houses the famous Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) training academy of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). In the town also is the well-known Agotime Secondary School. A popular annual Kente festival is also held. In fact, it competes and rivals Bonwire in the production of the world famous Kente cloth; one of the few distinguished gifts of Ghana to the world. The event shook the foundations of the otherwise quiet and peaceful town. Men turned into women. I surmise that the community; especially those directly impacted by what occurred, are yet to recover fully from the shock and trauma that they were subjected to. 2.
