In the early 1970s, the then Government of Ghana led by General Kutu Acheampong came up with what was termed Operation Feed Yourself. In pursuit of this project, the Government encouraged and supported farming. The 1st Defendant bought into the project and embarked on farming. As would be expected, it needed land to do the farming. And so in 1972 the James Town Stool granted what is termed ‘Right of Entry’ of some pieces of land situate and lying at Mile 8, Accra-Winneba Road to 1st Defendant. By this ‘Right of Entry’, the 1st Defendant was permitted to enter the land for farming purposes. Subsequently, the James Town Stool leased the land to Defendant on or about 14th October, 1976. The lease was duly registered in 1980. It must be noted that the land leased to 1st Defendant by the James Town Stool consisted of two parts and the descriptions thereof have been given in paragraphs 12 and 13 of the Amended Statement of Defence filed on 8th August 2013.
