The Applicant, Dorothy Ama Amponsah, married to the Respondent since 1987, alleged that from around 2000, the Respondent subjected her to emotional and physical abuse, including insults and threats often in presence of others. The Respondent left the matrimonial home in 2018 but continued to forcibly enter the Applicant's residence, threaten her and her dogs with a registered firearm, and hinder her access to marital properties. The Applicant feared for her life and sought protection orders restraining the Respondent from approaching her residence and business premises.
read moreOn 12th December 2019, counsel for the Applicant filed the instant application praying this Honourable Court for protection orders against the Respondent or any other person acting under his orders, from carrying out threats of domestic violence or further committing acts which constitute domestic violence against the Applicant upon the grounds and in the terms more particularly set down in the accompanying affidavit. And for further order restraining the Respondent from coming within 400 meters of the Applicant’s primary residence house number P52/K, Penkwase, Sunyani. The motion is supported by affidavit which has been deposed to by the Applicant. I wish to quote the relevant paragraphs in this ruling. 3. That, I have been married to the Respondent for about thirty-two years from the year 1987. 6. That, in or about the year 2000, the Respondent became abusive and began to subject me to emotional and physical abuse. 7. That, the Respondent consistently spews insults and threats.....
