INDUSTRIAL COMMERCIAL WORKERS' UNION (ICU) And AMEEN SANGARI INDUSTRIES LIMITED

The management of Ameen Sangari decided to undertake a redundancy exercise due to financial problems being faced by the company. It duly informed the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) which holds the Bargaining Certificate for most of the workers of the company. After several meetings to try and agree on a redundancy package, the parties could not come to an agreement. They therefore decided to have the matter referred to the National Labour Commission (NLC) for resolution.
