SENATOR HOTEL GHANA LIMITED vs. NANA ERNEST AIDOO

The Plaintiff, Senator Hotel Ghana Limited, entered into a written agreement on 1 January 2013 with the Defendant, Nana Ernest Aidoo, renting out hotel premises at a monthly rent of GHC 8,000 for 24 months. The Defendant was to pay rent into the Plaintiff's UBA bank account and cover taxes and utility bills. The Plaintiff claimed the Defendant defaulted on rent from May to December 2014 (GHC 64,000), unpaid electricity bills (GHC 25,118.32), and destruction of hotel property (GHC 58,000). The Defendant disputed the payment terms, alleged irregularities with electricity billing, and denied owing the full amounts claimed.

(1) This appeal is from the judgment of the Court of Appeal which affirmed the judgment of the trial court except a variation of the quantum of general damages awarded to the Plaintiff/Respondent.
