SAMUEL TEYE AKONOR vs. GHANA STOCK EXCHANGE

RULING Brief facts of the case On 13th February, 2018, Samuel Teye Akonor, Complainant filed a complaint at the National Labour Commission against Ghana Stock Exchange, over outstanding Workmen's Compensation claim. The Commission referred the complaint to the Respondent for its response in a letter dated 9th March, 2018. The Respondent per letter dated 5th April, 2018 stated that "Ghana Stock Exchange does not owe Mr. Samuel Teye Akonor any outstanding amount arising from his Workmen's Compensation and that it duly paid Complainant the full amount as assessed by the Metro Labour Office." The matter was heard at facilitation and an agreement dated 24th May 2018 was signed between the complainant and the respondent bringing the matter to an end. In spite of this agreement, the Complainant through its counsel wrote to the Commission in a letter dated 28th July 2020 that the Respondent had an outstanding payment of GH¢ 1,656 to be done.
