The complainant, Abdul Majeed Issah, was employed as a heavy truck driver by Vehrad Transport & Haulage Co. Ltd from 15 March 2017 until his employment was terminated on 27 November 2017, lasting eight months. The complainant alleged unfair termination following an injury sustained while offloading pallets at United Steel Company on 27 October 2017. He sought reinstatement, payment of salary, medical bills, and further medical care. The respondent contended termination was due to repeated misconduct, including lateness and violation of safety policies.

RULING BRIEF FACTS On the 29th June, 2018, Abdul Majeed Issah , Complainant, filed a complainant of “Unfair Termination Of Employment ” against Vehrad Transportation & Haulage Company Limited , Respondent. The Complainant had a short period of employment with the Respondent as one of its heavy truck drivers having been employed on the 15th day of March, 2017 and the employment relationship severed on the 27th November 2017; thus, the employment relationship lasted for eight months. The Commission referred the complaint to the Labour Department to “Conduct Investigation.” Per letter dated 9th July 2018 sine the Complainant alleged injury on the job following which his appointment was terminated. Per letter dated 18th October,2018, the Commission referred the Complaint to the Respondent for its response and followed with a final reminder on 26th November 2018.
