THE REPUBLIC vs. LYDIA ABOAGYE
The accused, Lydia Aboagye, was charged with murder of her husband, Kwaku Gyasi, following an altercation on 3rd November 2021 where she stabbed him with a broken bottle. The deceased was found bleeding and later pronounced dead at hospital. The accused was apprehended after suspicious behavior and taken into custody.

The Court has considered in its ruling the submission filed by counsel for the Republic/Respondent which has been most beneficial. The Accused person was first arraigned before this Court on the 25th of October 2022. Per the Bill of Indictment filed on the 18th August 2022, the Accused person was charged with one (1) count of Murder contrary to Section 46 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). FACTS OF THE CASE In the opening address of the Prosecution to the jury, the facts provided were that, on the 3rd November, 2021 at about 4:30am, a dispute arose between the Accused person and her deceased husband, Kwaku Gyasi.
