Sullivan, changed the standard for defamation and libel by requiring plaintiffs to prove malice … that is, evidence of actual knowledge on the part of the publisher that a statement is false.” Bryan Stevenson in his book ‘Just Mercy’ The case before this Court has an element of defamation and hence the above quote. I. FACTS OF THE PLAINTIFF’S CASE [a] According to the Plaintiff as at 14th of May 2018 he was the Administrator of the Defendant hospital, known as Stewards Hospital. The Plaintiff was appointed as the Administrator of the Defendant hospital with a monthly salary, per the appointment letter, fixed at Gh¢1,000.00. At a point in time, however, the Plaintiff stated that the Defendant owed him salary arrears for 23 months; and anytime the Plaintiff stated he complained to the Defendant about the nonpayment of his salary, the Defendant will plead with him to exercise patience a...
