RULING AMADU JSC: INTRODUCTION (1) My Lords, our special jurisdiction to review decisions of this court pursuant to Article 133 of the 1992 Constitution as settled by this court must be exercised in the most exceptional circumstances within the confines of Rule 54 of the Supreme Court Rules 1996 CI. 16 (as amended). This is to ensure that, parties to a dispute finally determined by this court will not take advantage of our review jurisdiction to reargue their cases under the guise of invoking the review jurisdiction. (2) The review jurisdiction of this Court is therefore not one which is available to correct “appealable” errors as well as inconsequential or trivial matters which the Applicant urging for the review of a final decision has identified and dissatisfied with how the said matters were resolved.
