JUDGMENT Dr. Poku Adusei, J.A. This is an appeal against the decision of the district court, which sat as a rent magistrate court, at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi. The antecedent facts which gave rise to the instant appeal before this Court are as follows: the complainants/respondents [hereinafter referred to as the respondents) initiated eviction proceedings before the rent control department against the respondent/appellant (hereinafter referred to as the appellant) in respect of the latter’s occupation of H/No. Plot 2, Block 5, Abrepo Junction, Kumasi. The case of the respondents was that the property in dispute was originally rented out by their mother (i.e., Madam Yaa Ampomah) to the appellant in 2008. The tenancy agreement was renewed a couple of time at four-year intervals.
