mso-border-shadow:yes"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%; font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif";mso-fareast-font-family:"Book Antiqua"; mso-bidi-font-family:"Book Antiqua"">By a petition dated 5/6/98 the complainant complained against the conduct of an annual general elections of the Hotel & Catering International Management Association.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:5.0pt;text-align:justify;mso-pagination: none;border:none;mso-padding-alt:31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt;mso-border-shadow: yes"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-bidi-font-family:"Book Antiqua"">According to the complainant there had been no election for many years because there were not enough corporate members. When it was time for them to hold an election, a meeting was held but a consensus could not be reached as to the conduct of the election. Some members stormed out of the meeting. However the remaining members went on to hold the elections and declared a winner without the other members, contrary to the Constitution of the Association. Furthermore some members who were allowed to stand for the elections were not fully paid up members and some unknown people were allowed to vote.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:5.0pt;text-align:justify;text-indent: 1.4pt;mso-pagination:none;border:none;mso-padding-alt:31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt; mso-border-shadow:yes"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%; font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif";mso-fareast-font-family:"Book Antiqua"; mso-bidi-font-family:"Book Antiqua"">The complainant wanted the Commission to investigate the matter and to advise the Association on the matter.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:5.0pt;text-align:justify;mso-pagination: none;border:none;mso-padding-alt:31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt;mso-border-shadow: yes"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-bidi-font-family:"Book Antiqua"">Several invitations extended to the complainant to call at the Commission for discussions were not honored and comments requested from the respondent were not provided.
