Clottey-Sefa Esq., Legal and Programme Officer, Africa Legal Aid filed a complaint on behalf of Bawa Jacob with this Commission on 3rd October, 2000.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:5.0pt;text-align:justify;mso-pagination: none;border:none;mso-padding-alt:31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt;mso-border-shadow: yes"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-bidi-font-family:"Book Antiqua"">According to J.D. Clottey, his client was enlisted into the Ghana Police Service in 1997. Mr. Jacob Bawa was subsequently discharged from Service as a result of giving his GCE "O' Level Certificate to Musah Paul Bawa, who succeeded in enlisting into the Service. Mr. J. Clottey-Sefa stated that his client Jacob Bawa was highly aggrieved and dissatisfied with the action taken against him by the Police Administration, as he was not given any opportunity to defend himself.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:5.0pt;text-align:justify;mso-pagination: none;border:none;mso-padding-alt:31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt;mso-border-shadow: yes"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-bidi-font-family:"Book Antiqua"">Mr. D.J. Clottey-Sefa craved the indulgence of the Commission to investigate the case and order the reinstatement of Jacob Bawa.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:5.0pt;text-align:justify;mso-pagination: none;border:none;mso-padding-alt:31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt;mso-border-shadow: yes"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-bidi-font-family:"Book Antiqua"">The Respondent explained that Jacob Bawa was discharged from Service as a result of adverse positive vetting report submitted on Ex-No.32641 GC/2 Jacob Bawa who was actually known as Musah Paul Bawa, by which criminal, means and design you gave your 'O' Level result slip to him to pose as John Bawa, for which both of you succeeded in enlisting into the Ghana Police Service, the Inspector-General of Police has directed that you be discharged from the Service forthwith."<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:5.0pt;text-align:justify;mso-pagination: none;border:none;mso-padding-alt:31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt;mso-border-shadow: yes"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-bidi-font-family:"Book Antiqua"">The Commission's investigations revealed that the respondent, after its further investigations into the matter, had rescinded its earlier decision by reinstating the complainant into the Service.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:5.0pt;text-align:justify;mso-pagination: none;border:none;mso-padding-alt:31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt 31.0pt;mso-border-shadow: yes"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Book Antiqua","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-bidi-font-family:"Book Antiqua"">The Complainant Jacob Bawa confirmed his reinstatement into the Service. He stated that he is now undergoing a refresher course at Police National Academy, Tesano.
