</div>Introduction <o:p></o:p>On 24 February,
2009, Mr. G. A.
Balogun petitioned the National Labour Commission (NLC) for redress regarding an alleged wrongful termination of his appointment as
Administrative Secretary of the Convention People Party (CPP). <o:p></o:p>According to the
petitioner, he was employed as Administrative Secretary on 15th July, 2005. He
worked diligently and took active part in preparations towards the Party's
National Congress in Kumasi in December 2007. <o:p></o:p>According to him, soon
after the new leadership of the Party assumed office, the new General
Secretary, Mr. Ivor Greenstreet verbally asked him to vacate office. The reason
given to him was that the new leadership had decided to dispense with his
services. <o:p></o:p>He made efforts to
contact the new officers, including the new Chairman of the Party, Mr. Ladi Nylander to seek compensation for the unlawful
termination of his appointment without success. <o:p></o:p>He therefore petitioned
the Commission asking for the following reliefs: <o:p></o:p>1. Compensation for wrongful termination <o:p></o:p>2.
