(emphasis added)<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align: justify;line-height:115%;tab-stops:278.8pt"><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: "Book Antiqua", serif; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;"> <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align: justify;line-height:115%"><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: "Book Antiqua", serif; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">On the facts on the affidavit, the applicant was arraigned before the District Court, Teshie-Nungua on 18 December 2018 on two charges of stealing “165 quart Maxcold ice chest valued at GHc1,500.00 …”, and “3 bags of 25kg Gino and Lele rice and 25 litres cooking oil all valued at GHc920.00 …” on 25 November 2018 contrary to law. Applicant was arrested without warrant and sent to the court. On 18 December 2018, the said district court convicted and sentenced applicant based on his guilty plea on the first charge to “12 months by way of an enhanced sentence”, and the second charge to “8 months also in enhanced sentence.” The sentences were to “run consecutively to be served at the Nsawam Security Prison.” <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align: justify;line-height:115%"><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: "Book Antiqua", serif; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align: justify;line-height:115%"><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: "Book Antiqua", serif; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">Clearly the one month the law prescribes for filing of appeal against the decision of the trial district court has lapsed.
